In mid-June 2025, our team traveled to Bari, Italy, to take part in the Third International Conference on Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability (CEES 2025). The event brought together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers engaged in shaping sustainable built environments.
During the conference, we presented our work titled “Positive Energy Districts as Contributors to Enhancing Sustainability Pillars in Social Housing Neighborhoods”, where we explored the role of energy-positive urban strategies in advancing social and environmental goals. We also presented the paper “Nature-based Solutions to improve water and energy efficiency and social equity in low-income communities”, which explored how Nature-based Solutions (NbS) improve water and energy efficiency while promoting climate resilience and social equity. This study examines the RECAREI Social Housing Complex in Matosinhos.

We’re pleased to share that our papers are going to be published in the Scopus-indexed CEES 2025 Conference Proceedings. The experience offered valuable feedback and opened up new conversations on how Positive Energy Districts can contribute meaningfully to the energy transition, especially in the context of social housing.
